Service Care Legal are working with a well-regarded local authority in Essex is seeking an experienced Contracts Lawyer to join their legal team on an initial 3-month contract. This is a key role supporting commercial and procurement activity, with the opportunity to make an immediate impact. ROLE: Contracts Lawyer LOCATION: Essex RATE: £55–£65ph umbrella / £57.12ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £51.02ph PAYE exc. Holiday pay CONTRACT: Initial 3 months with possibility of extension Please not that there will be office attendance once per fortnight. The Role Manage a varied caseload of commercial, procurement and construction contracts, including JCT and NEC, with minimal supervision Draft, negotiate and review contracts, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and Contract Procedure Rules Work closely with procurement colleagues, providing advice on procurement strategy, risk and governance Support the Council’s commercial initiatives while safeguarding legal and financial interests, with backing from Senior and Principal Lawyers Person Specification Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with proven contracts experience, ideally within a local authority or public sector setting Able to work independently, handling matters end-to-end while delivering clear, pragmatic legal advice Strong organisational, research and communication skills, with the ability to support procurement and administrative work as required If this sounds like an opportunity of interest, please contact Lloyd Stanley on 01772 208969, or email Lloyd.stanley@servicecare.org.uk.
