As a Welder you will deliver high-quality welds following MRP schedules and company standards. We require strong observational skills and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality procedures.
You will report to the Line Manager and be located at Westinghouse Precision Fabrications, Castle Donington, Derby. Shift – Days 39hrs (Monday – Thursday 7/8am – 4/5pm & Friday 7/8am – 12/1pm)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Be able to perform any general duties or tasks required by Management
2. Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times (H & S)
3. Ensure productivity is maintained to the required standard
4. Maintain discipline within your area
5. Control your Time Management to ensure delivery of the products are met
6. Promote good team morale in your area
7. Implementation of policies, procedures and working documents
8. Assist in training of employees
9. Support the Management Team
10. Update daily tick lists and charts within the required time limit
11. Assist other employees with quality situations as and
12. Highlight Quality problems to the Line Manager and/or Production Controller
13. Able to perform production work with reference to the Skill Matrix
14. Continuous improvements relating to this position and assisting the business to identify opportunities for improvement.
Welding Responsibilities:
15. Accurately log work hours and production data in the system
16. Follow MRP schedules and table layouts to meet production deadlines
17. Use micrometers, verniers, and digital measuring tools with confidence
18. Operate all relevant inspection gauges and welding fixtures
19. Apply Data Cards and SOPs consistently within the welding area
20. Perform visual weld inspections and follow quality and welding procedures
21. Read and interpret technical drawings to ISO and BS standards
22. Draft and review welding-related SOPs
23. Manage welding consumables and ensure availability
24. Participate in quality meetings and support issue resolution
Qualifications:
25. Competent in the visual inspection methods
26. Able to refer to Quality Procedures and SOP's
27. TIG qualified or competently trained approved welder
28. Able to perform quality and consistent welds
29. Experience in welding small gauge material
30. Confident in working to process instructions
31. Familiar with Data card requirements
32. Able to read drawings and refer to work instruction
33. Understanding of NCR processes
34. Work to MRP requirements
35. Familiar with tooling, jigs and acceptance fixtures
36. Confident to use Micrometres, Verniers and digital equipment
37. Competent in using equipment in your working area
38. Familiar with performing weld tests for approval to weld product
