Role: Pre-Construction Director
Salary: £80-110k + bonus + car (or car allowance)
Location: East Midlands
Hybrid: c3-4 days pw in office

This is a senior leadership role where you'll shape bid strategies, guide a talented team, and influence the success of major contracts. You'll also play a key role in the internal and external marketing media streams.

Job Responsibilities
1. Develop and deliver winning bid strategies for major tenders.
2. Lead the full tender process from initial enquiry to final submission.
3. Coordinate and inspire bid teams, ensuring collaboration across technical, commercial, and operational functions.
4. Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
5. Oversee bid writing and documentation, ensuring proposals are persuasive, accurate, and aligned with client needs.
6. Work with finance and operations to create robust cost estimates and pricing strategies.
7. Identify risks and ensure all submissions comply with legal, contractual, and safety requirements.
8. Lead bid reviews, client clarifications, and post-bid negotiations.
9. Analyse bid outcomes, share lessons learned, and continuously improve performance.
10. Oversee marketing, brand awareness, and external communications, including digital campaigns and industry events.
11. Develop, mentor, and grow the bid team's capability.
Requirements
12. Proven track record in leading bid, tender, or pre-construction functions within construction or infrastructure with a strong estimating background.
13. Strong strategic and commercial mindset with the ability to influence at all levels.
14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp eye for detail.
15. Experience in marketing, branding, or digital communications is advantageous
16. Demonstrated success in developing competitive, high-quality tenders.
17. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and build high-performing teams.
18. Professional bid management qualification (e.g. APMP) desirable.
