This advert is open to both Internal and External applicants. We’re seeking an experienced Principal Transport Officer to lead our work on transport monitoring, data collection, and modelling. This senior role provides expert transport planning services to support the City’s Local Transport Plan, major schemes, and strategic policies. You will manage a skilled team delivering the transport data and modelling that underpin investment decisions and shape the city’s future network.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the North Staffordshire Transport Model
* Commission consultancy studies
* Provide technical advice on schemes, developments, and masterplans
* Develop and apply modelling techniques (TRIPS, CUBE, COBA, TUBA, TEMPRO, TRICS)
* Ensure data quality through effective survey and monitoring programmes
* Manage staff and budgets; interpret complex data; communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
Qualifications
* Degree in transport planning, civil engineering, town planning or related field
* Relevant professional membership
* Extensive experience in urban transport planning, monitoring, and modelling

Qualified transport professional with extensive experience in urban transport planning, monitoring, and modelling. The candidate should be able to lead, manage staff and budgets, and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
Conditions
Grade: Level 13
Salary: £48,226 - £51,356
Hours: 37 – Full Time
