Electricity Settlements Manager

About your role:
The Electricity Settlements Manager ensures British Gas meets its settlement obligations within the domestic electricity market. Responsibilities include overseeing processes for compliance with the Balancing and Settlement Code, verifying energy volumes attributed to British Gas reflect customer consumption, leading onshore and offshore teams, and maintaining operational excellence.
This role offers opportunities to develop technical skills, gain knowledge of gas settlements, recover significant sums for the business, and travel overseas to visit offshore teams.
Your key daily duties will be:
1. Ensure settlement performance targets are met across the domestic portfolio.
2. Manage relationships with Elexon, ensuring adherence to performance plans and milestones.
3. Ensure compliance with the Balancing and Settlement Code, demonstrated during audits.
4. Lead and develop a team of Data Analysts to monitor and improve settlement performance and reduce imbalance exposure.
5. Oversee the Elective Half-Hourly portfolio, ensuring accurate billing and exception review.
6. Ensure Estimated Annual Consumption (EAC) values are accurate and representative.
7. Manage meter read rejections, failed reads, and industry exceptions for operational accuracy.
8. Collaborate with operational and product teams to understand and mitigate impacts on settlement and imbalance.
9. Manage outsource partners and third-party strategic partners to optimize settlement and imbalance benefits.
10. Support understanding and implementation of industry-driven changes, including MHHS program impacts.
11. Proactively monitor industry developments to maintain compliance and efficiency.
What we’re looking for:
We seek a leader with knowledge of electricity settlements, preferably in the residential market, with strong industry expertise. Leadership skills are essential for managing analysts and collaborating with third parties and offshore teams. Technical knowledge is advantageous but can be developed. Independence and initiative are key.
