Job Title: Year 5–6 Class Teacher
Location: Andover, Hampshire
Salary: Paid in accordance with the Teacher Pay Scale
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September start, with the possibility of an earlier commencement for the right candidate





Overview of the Role

A well-regarded and inclusive primary setting in Andover is seeking to appoint a committed and highly motivated Year 5–6 Class Teacher. This position offers the opportunity to work within a small, specialist class of six pupils who are currently working below age-related expectations.

The class benefits from a high level of adult support, with four additional staff members working collaboratively to provide a structured, nurturing, and individualised learning environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading this provision and ensuring that all pupils are supported to achieve their full potential.





Key Responsibilities

* Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of pupils

* Adapt the curriculum to support learners working below age-related expectations

* Develop and implement individualised learning strategies to promote progress

* Lead and coordinate the work of support staff within the classroom

* Monitor and evaluate pupil progress, maintaining accurate records

* Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

* Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals where appropriate





The Class and Learning Environment

* Small class size of six pupils, allowing for a highly personalised approach

* Pupils are primarily working below expected levels for their age

* Strong adult-to-pupil ratio, with four additional staff supporting teaching and learning

* Emphasis on nurturing development, engagement, and confidence-building





Person Specification

Essential:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

* Experience of teaching in Key Stage 2

* Strong understanding of adaptive teaching and inclusive practice

* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

* Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

* Experience working with pupils with additional or complex learning needs

* Knowledge of intervention strategies for lower-attaining pupils

* Experience managing and directing support staff
