English Teacher (Key Stage 3 & 4)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate English Teacher to join our team on a full-time basis, with a start date as soon as possible. This is a school-based role (not one-to-one tuition or college lecturing) and requires someone with experience in a secondary school environment, especially preparing students for GCSE examinations.
You will:

Teach English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (including GCSE English Language and English Literature)

Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons, differentiating to meet students’ individual learning needs
*
Drive progress in reading, writing, vocabulary, comprehension, and literary analysis
*
Use data and assessment effectively to identify gaps and intervene to close them
*
Manage behaviour, build rapport, and cultivate a positive classroom culture
*
Collaborate with colleagues, share best practice, and contribute to the development of the English curriculum
*
Support school-wide initiatives (e.g. literacy, cross-curricular integration, reading for pleasure)
*
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, marking, reporting, and school policies
Person Specification / Requirements
Essential
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
*
Proven track record of teaching English within a school environment
*
Experience preparing students for GCSE English examinations
*
Strong subject knowledge across English language and literature
*
Excellent classroom management skills
*
Ability to differentiate to meet a range of abilities
*
Good organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills
*
Commitment to professional development
Desirable
*
Experience working in a challenging context (e.g. with students who have gaps in schooling or additional needs)
*
Experience of designing a responsive English curriculum
*
Familiarity with using assessment and data to drive interventions
*
Experience leading or coordinating a subject area
