Offer description

About the role

The Workplace Health team supports the health and wellbeing of UCL staff, PhD students and professionally regulated students. We deliver inclusive, evidence-based occupational health advice and services that enable our community to work and study safely.

In this role, you will undertake a range of clinical occupational health activities from our clinic at Bidborough House. This includes routine health surveillance such as spirometry, drivers’ medicals, pre-enrolment health screening for professionally regulated students, and travel and workplace immunisation clinics.

You will assess health concerns and provide clear, evidence-based advice on the relationship between health and work or study. This will involve reviewing health information, identifying when further clinical input may be required, and escalating complex cases appropriately. You will provide written and verbal advice to managers, staff, tutors and students to support safe and effective working or study arrangements.

A key part of the role involves maintaining accurate, confidential occupational health records in line with data protection requirements and professional standards. You will also act as a point of contact for a number of student-facing areas across the university and support reporting requirements where needed.

As a member of the Workplace Health team, you will contribute proactively to a collaborative clinical service that supports a large and diverse university community.

This is an on-campus role based at our offices in Bidborough House, a short walk from Euston and Kings Cross stations, though we hope to support home working one day per week, depending on the needs of the service. During the first two months of probation the successful candidate will be on site full time for their induction programme. You will also be required to undergo occupational health screening and a DBS check before being confirmed in post.

Job Ref: C14-

Closing Date: 14-04- – 23:59 (UK time)

About you

You will be a registered nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and experience of assessing health needs in a clinical or occupational health setting as well as experience in taking part in health clinics and providing immunisations.

You will have experience planning and implementing appropriate clinical strategies and providing written and verbal advice on the relationship between health and work, taking account of relevant employment and health and safety legislation.

You will be confident using computerised health record systems and Microsoft Office applications, and have strong written skills to support clear clinical reporting, audit activity and policy development.

Strong organisational and prioritisation skills are essential, as you will manage a varied clinical workload. You will also demonstrate sound clinical judgement, with the ability to make appropriate decisions, justify your recommendations and seek further medical input where necessary.

Equally important are your interpersonal skills. You will be comfortable communicating with colleagues and students across a large organisation and committed to delivering an inclusive, professional and person-centred occupational health service.
