Eligibility & Screening
* Registered nurse or midwife.
* Minimum 2:1 degree qualification.
* Desirable: 2 years’ experience in the health visiting discipline.
Programme Details
The programme comprises 50% theory and 50% practice and runs for 45 weeks per year, delivered in partnership with university and clinical settings.
Compensation & Benefits
* Midpoint Band 5 salary (sponsored/seconded).
* Tuition fees paid by NHS England.
* Travel expenses reimbursed when travelling on business.

Responsibilities
* Communicate effectively with service users, professionals, supervisors and stakeholders.
* Develop and maintain working relationships with the practice assessor, supervisor and other partners.
* Plan, implement, assess, and evaluate client care in line with health visiting and school nursing principles.
* Use analytical and judgement skills to conduct robust health assessments.
* Complete required education and skills assessment to register as a specialist community public health nurse (Health Visitor).
* Meet all academic and practical deadlines and take responsibility for achieving targets.
* Operate safely and efficiently between destinations and visits, being IT competent and declaring any learning disabilities.
* Maintain accurate, timely records, including travel expenses, in accordance with organisational policies.
* Uphold the NMC Code of Conduct, confidentiality, record keeping, health and safety, safeguarding and other organisational guidelines.
* Contribute to policy and service development, including safeguarding and child‑abuse prevention.
* Engage in research and development activities, including progression to nurse prescribing and a year’s preceptorship after course completion.
* Work independently under established policies and guidelines, demonstrating professional and legal accountability.
Qualifications & Skills
* Registered nurse or midwife with a specialist interest in improving health and social outcomes for children and families.
* Strong communication, analytical, planning and organisational skills.
* Proficiency in IT and basic driving competence.
* Evidence of professional competence and ability to transfer transferable skills to health visiting.
