What skills and experience we're looking for


Qualifications and Attainments

* Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy qualification Essential
* 4 GCSEs at grade C including Maths and English Essential
* Level 2 Childcare qualification or equivalent, e.g., CACHE, NVQ L2, NNEB Desirable


Training, Experience and Knowledge

* Understand the needs of children with SEND Essential
* Experience of working with SEND children in education Desirable
* Experience of using IEPs, ILPs and EHCPs Desirable
* Experience of working with children in KS2 / KS3 / KS4 and relevant qualifications Desirable
* Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities of Teaching Assistants Essential
* Ability and confidence to assist pupils with basic numeracy and literacy in line with learning strategies and the national curriculum Essential
* Experience of basic administrative tasks Desirable
* Experienced/trained first aider, or willing to complete training in first aid Desirable

Role Specific

1. Support students as part of an inclusion programme, assisting students with weak literacy/numeracy skills and those with SEND.
2. Assist the class teacher with monitoring student progress and preparing teaching materials.
3. Collaborate with teachers in planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating curriculum effectiveness, differentiating content as needed.
4. Plan and implement intervention programmes for individual students or groups across various curriculum areas.
5. Support the development of social and emotional skills, delivering programmes such as social stories and Talkabout.
6. Assist in setting, monitoring, and reviewing individual student targets, reporting on progress and concerns.
7. Build positive relationships with students and staff, liaising with parents, carers, and outside agencies as appropriate.
8. Monitor and record student progress, preparing reports as required.
9. Assist with medical/care needs of students with appropriate training.
10. Provide cover supervision for classes as needed.
11. Administer tests and assist in exam invigilation.
