Overview
We are looking to recruit a pooled receptionist for Women & Children\'s Services within the Paediatric Department. This is a permanent contract with flexibility to cover a 7-day service (any time in a 24-hour period). You will support all reception teams across the Division, including wards and outpatient reception areas.
Main duties
The post holder will provide a high-quality reception and support service within inpatient and outpatient settings. You will need to communicate effectively with patients and their relatives, the public, and a wide range of multi-professional staff internal and external to the Trust. You should be able to support technical staff with a versatile approach and cope with multiple tasks simultaneously. If you are highly organised, methodical, enjoy patient contact and teamwork, you will play a big part in making a difference for our patients.

Job responsibilities
* To provide a support service to the technical, secretarial, medical and nursing staff of the Department.
* To carry out receptionist duties, including prioritising and arranging appointments, maintaining appointment systems, identifying test requests and investigations, and coordinating the various clinics within the department.
* To deal with patients and internal and external staff enquiries in person or via the telephone, in a courteous and confidential manner, and provide assistance as required.
* To ensure patient safety and well-being in the waiting area prior to their appointment and alert appropriate staff to any concerns.
* To keep a log of telephone requests for investigations, prioritise these and convey messages to the appropriate technical staff.
* To ensure appointment lists are maintained and prepared for clinical work.
* To obtain and prepare notes for clinics, investigations or at staff request.
* To maintain a record of the transfer of notes to and from the department.
* To understand the 18 Week Pathway, input the correct RTT codes and validate the patient pathway where appropriate.
* To liaise with Secretaries and other departments within the Trust to ensure case notes, X-rays and referrals are available for every patient attending an outpatient clinic; liaise with external stakeholders to obtain referrals if necessary.
