Head of Fraud Strategy – London / Nottingham
Location: United Kingdom, London or Nottingham with a hybrid working model.
Overview
As Head of Fraud Strategy you will be central to a business built on rigorous analytics and risk management. You will set Capital One's fraud strategy and oversee all fraud analysis and systems, driving the company’s fraud outcomes across the UK Card business and beyond.
Responsibilities
* Define and manage fraud and disputes strategy for a growing UK Card business with aspirations to move into a multi‑product offering.
* Lead and support a team of fraud strategy analysts to ensure ongoing excellence in fraud outcomes for our customers.
* Be accountable for fraud losses and ensure performance remains within appetite.
* Own and manage the Credit Oversight Program for UK Fraud in collaboration with Enterprise Fraud.
* Provide consultancy to other intent and product owners across the business to align business change with fraud risk appetite and controls.
* Represent Capital One at industry forums and events (e.g., UK Finance, Cifas, conferences).
* Assess new technology and keep Capital One ahead of fraud trends.
* Build relationships with vendors and evaluate new products and services for pursuit.
Qualifications
* Significant experience managing a fraud strategy or fraud analysis function within a financial services organisation.
* Ability to manage varying workload and solve both short‑term and long‑term challenges.
* Proven track record of data‑driven resolutions with strong quantitative orientation paired with conceptual thinking.
* Strong combination of business insight and econometric/statistical modelling skills to achieve intuitive and technically sound results.
* Strong business judgment and integrity; a tenacious decision maker who balances business needs with risk considerations.
Work Location & Mode
This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham or London offices. We have a hybrid working model, offering flexibility to work from the office or home. Employees are expected to work from the office three days a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays). If based in London, frequent travel to Nottingham will be required.
