Our tier 1 contractor is seeking a HSEQ Manager to join their Walsall based team on a permanent basis supporting AMP8 Water projects. As an HSEQ Manager, you will support a number of projects to meet the requirements of the Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Management systems. You will report to the Head of HSEQ for your area. Supporting the site teams and managers through your inspections by recognising hazards, seeking to minimise risks whilst creating, maintaining and improving the health, safety, environmental and quality standards. You will champion HSEQ initiatives in the region whilst ensuring that legislation is adhered to. Responsibilities Support the provision of Health & Wellbeing within the business, under the direction of the Head of HSEQ & HSEQ Director, with the support of the Company H&W Advisor Promote the value of occupational health at a regional level Provide consistent and accurate HSEQ advice to Advisors and Site Teams where applicable Render support to the region on HSEQ initiatives/issues, and problems Produce regional HSEQ statistics monthly, identify trends and take proactive initiatives Line manage HSEQ Advisors under your control and mentor them to allow professional development Offer support and focus to the site teams on Be Right First Time initiatives and monitoring Quality Control as defined by the HSEQ Systems & Audit Manager Attend Client HSEQ Forums as required, and provide lessons learnt feedback and sharing of best practices Form collaborative relationships with Client HSEQ Management Contribute to and support company-level HSEQ communications and embed at the regional level Produce and communicate HSEQ alerts following incidents and poor-quality standards to promote learning and prevention, and continual improvement Support the Head of HSEQ for your area of the business in maintaining HSE performance statistics monthly as requested. Deliver awareness training and lead site standdowns Act as an independent Investigator in other areas of the business under the direction of the HSEQ Director Conduct regular visits to support your Advisory Team within the area of your control Perform HSEQ Detailed Inspections monthly in your control with monthly targets agreed with your Head of HSEQ and or the HSEQ Director Monitor HSEQ Advisor inspections and ensure findings are closed out on time Agree on Advisor monthly inspection targets and monitor compliance Provide management support for Facilities Managers at the regional company premises on HSE-related issues and provisions Monitor HSE standards at the regional company premises and ensure legal obligations are being upheld Skills/experience/qualifications NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent as a minimum, but ideally IOSH CEnv or equivalent as a minimum, but ideally associate ISEP (Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Practices) Extensive HSEQ experience within a civil engineering environment, experience in the rail sector would be beneficial, but is not essential Knowledge of quality controls associated with company work activities Analytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations High standard of written English Good communication skills, including a professional telephone manner People skills - ability to liaise with staff/operatives of all levels MS Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint Effective communicator with strong presentation and report writing skills CSCS Safety Professional card Able to work as a member of a team, but capable of working alone to tight deadlines as appropriate Commitment to Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Level 3 AET or PTTLS preferred but not essential Working towards NEBOSH Diploma level 6 Benefits Competitive salary circa £55-65k per annum Company Pension Life Assurance Private Medical 25 days of annual leave in addition to 8 public bank holidays and loyalty days 8 hours volunteering Employee Assistance Programme to support your mental, physiological and financial wellbeing Flexible benefits via salary sacrifice Company car/green car scheme/car allowance/Van (dependent on position) Leadership & management training and coaching Regular line management engagement and appraisal to support your career progression Development supported by internal and externally delivered training Continuous service awards
