Role: Buyer
Salary: £35,000
Location: Crewe (office based)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to take ownership of the purchasing function within a successful and growing manufacturing business.
Reporting into senior management, you’ll be responsible for overseeing around £4m of spend across raw materials, packaging, and blends. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with strong sourcing and supplier management experience who enjoys both strategic and day-to-day purchasing activities.
You’ll also oversee and support a Supply Chain Coordinator, helping to guide and develop their skills as they work towards their CIPS qualification.

Key Responsibilities as a Buyer:
* Manage all purchasing activity across raw materials, packaging, and indirect spend
* Develop and implement sourcing and cost-saving strategies
* Negotiate commercial terms to achieve best value and service levels
* Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including site visits where required
* Support and mentor the Supply Chain Coordinator
* Lead demand planning and forecasting to ensure timely material availability
* Track and report key procurement metrics including cost savings and supplier performance
* Work closely with internal teams such as Production, Sales, and R&D to align procurement needs
* Manage purchasing through the MRP system and ensure compliance with company procedures
* Conduct market intelligence and supplier analysis to support long-term strategy
About You
* Proven experience as a Buyer within a manufacturing environment
* Knowledge of the Aerosol industry and/or chemical background advantageous
* CIPS qualified (or working towards)
* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
* Proficiency in MRP systems and confident handling data and forecasts
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK (occasional supplier visits)
