Your new role
1. Prepare, issue and manage purchase orders for production and engineered projects.
2. Work with suppliers to reduce lead times, negotiatepetitive costings and improve service levels.
3. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring clearmunication and expectations.
4. Maintain supplier data, purchase order databases and associated correspondence.
5. Identify and support cost-saving initiatives and stock reduction opportunities.
6. Assist Accounts Payable in resolving invoice variances and goods-receipting discrepancies.
7. Set and maintain price lists with key suppliers.
8. Study system requirements to determine weekly and monthly production needs.
9. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
10. Monitor stock levels and schedule purchase orders to maintain adequate inventory, supporting stock takes and cycle counts as required.
11. Check for part shortages and rmend alternativeponents when necessary.
12. Maintain stock status reports for critical, long‑lead and production parts.
13. Support Engineering by coordinating part specifications and ensuring material availability.
14. Work closely with Engineering to understand design changes and material requirements.
15. Partner with Production to ensure smooth manufacturing flow and resolve bottlenecks.
16. Participate in process‑improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality and scheduling accuracy.
17. Update savings trackers and relevant supply chain reporting tools.
18. Enforcepany policies and safety expectations when interacting with plant teams.
19. Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and wider business needs.
What you'll need to succeed
20. 5+ years purchasing experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
21. Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft packages.
22. Experience purchasing steel, hydraulics, electricalponents and fabricated items.
23. Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
24. Excellent verbal and writtenmunication skills.
25. Ability to work collaboratively with sales, engineering, planning and production teams.
26. Ability to analyse data, identify issues and propose solutions.
