Research Assistant/Associate – Nanosheet Device Arrays (Fixed Term)
The University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering invites applications for a Fixed‑Term Research Assistant/Associate position focusing on nanosheet‑based device arrays. Applicants will fabricate, statistically analyze, and design circuits for nanosheet transistors as part of the NanoEngineering Group at the Cambridge Graphene Centre and collaborate with international partners.
Responsibilities
* Fabricate and statistically analyze performance of nanosheet‑based p- and n-type transistor arrays.
* Design basic analog and digital sensor‑interface circuits.
* Define layout design rules for device arrays.
* Pattern large arrays of devices and conduct statistical analysis.
* Collaborate with Prof Tawfique Hasan and teams from Strasbourg University, Trinity College Dublin, University of Antwerp, University of Mons, and mSemicon Teoranta.
Qualifications
* PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a relevant technical discipline (or expected to complete within 24 months).
* Hands‑on experience with nanosheet materials and patterning for large device arrays.
* Excellent statistical analysis of device performance.
* Background in sensor‑readout circuit design (desirable).
* Strong presentation, technical writing, and scientific illustration skills.
* Independent and collaborative work ability, willingness to travel, and proficient organization, communication, and time‑management skills.
* Capability to develop research proposals and reports autonomously.
* Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students (expected).
Appointment & Salary
Research Assistant salary: GBP 33,002 – 35,608.Research Associate salary (after PhD awarded): GBP 37,694 – 46,049.Position is fixed‑term for an initial period of 24 months.
