Responsibilities
* Washing and showering, including hair washing or bed bath if needed.
* Attending to skin, nails, ears, etc. to prevent sores or wounds.
* Assistance dressing and undressing.
* Assistance with toilet arrangements; normally only support with clothing is required.
* Preparing and cooking meals.
* General housework: cleaning, dusting, vacuuming and basic household maintenance.
* Making and changing of beds.
* General laundry tasks, including washing and ironing.
* Assisting with shopping and other associated tasks.
* Assistance with paperwork, writing and basic computer skills.
* Assistance getting to meetings, appointments, social events and providing assistance whilst there.
* Assistance in and out of vehicles and driving the car when required.
* Assistance whilst at work, taking notes at meetings, etc.
* Assistance with gardening and general maintenance of home, car and wheelchair.
* Support with standing positions and moving the wheelchair; lifting is not required.
Training will be given in any aspect of the job you are unsure about. Common sense and initiative are essential. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid weekly in arrears. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you. A National Insurance number must be submitted. The position is part‑time.
Qualifications & expectations
* To be professional yet friendly and to be in the background when required.
* To have a full UK manual driving licence with no serious convictions and no recent accident claims.
* Sense of humour.
* Must be able to respect privacy and confidentiality, including that of anyone visited in connection with my employment.
* Common sense and initiative.
* Reliable, honest and trustworthy.
* Willing to learn about my disability to aid overall care.
* Able to be flexible and adaptable.
* Good spoken and written English.
Desirable requirements
* Non‑smoker (no smoking or vaping inside my home, car or office).
* Similar leisure interests.
* Extensive computer knowledge and Microsoft products.
Hours and Pay
Minimum hours available: 4 hours every other Saturday, usually from 9 AM to 1 PM. Additional hours may be available on that day or at other times, e.g., to cover holidays or sickness. Rate of pay: £14 per hour.
