Behaviour Support Mentor, Buckinghamshire
The role offers experience working with vulnerable students, increasing their engagement, attainment, and life chances, with the aim of preventing entry into the criminal justice system.
You will collaborate with teachers and specialist staff to support students with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges and traumas. Some children may have experienced adverse childhood experiences; your role includes identifying risks and needs, escalating issues when necessary. Many face barriers that increase their risk of negative outcomes. Your support will provide consistency and equip children and young people with tools to feel safe, secure, empowered, and confident in their potential.
This position provides valuable practical experience with vulnerable, hard-to-reach students, ideal for those considering a career in outreach or the non-profit sector. It is also suitable for aspiring Probation Officers, Prison Officers, and Youth Justice Workers.
