Essential experience: - 1 year of experience in calf rearing/milking - Knowledge of grazing systems You will be working directly for the farm, not through REAL Success Ltd Our Farm We are a mixed organic farm with arable owned by King Charles. We have a Pedigree herd of 220 Ayrshire Cows milking all year round, along with 150 followers, 150 calves, and a small number of rare breed beef and sheep spread across 1350 acres. We have a Waitrose contract and milk twice a day through a 15/30 herringbone parlour with in-parlour feeding, handling facility and cow management software. The cows are housed in a modern cubicle shed and some loose housing. We have a well-structured calf rearing facility and modern machinery. Our calves are calved all year round, with all our records and data kept up to date using Uniform. Role As a Calf Rearer with relief milking responsibilities, you will work alongside the team to assist with the day-to-day running of calves welfare and the dairy. - Calf management, including feeding and monitoring, vaccinations, disbudding, castration and ensuring calf health and welfare. - Liaising with vets when required. - Ensuring the yard is kept to a high standard of cleanliness. - Contributing to grazing plans and supporting the team with general farm work. - Supporting with milking, ensuring the herds wellbeing is top priority and reporting any observations to the senior team. - Working as a key team member to our organic ethos - Support with AI. - Keeping records and data up to date - Basic tractor and machine operating This role requires a full UK driving License, AI experience preferred. Requirements You will be - Passionate about cows and calves, animal welfare - Aware of grazing systems - A confident communicator who is proactive with a high attention to detail. - Able to identify most calf health problems and have good milking proficiency. - Somebody with a a can-do attitude, who is willing to work as part of a team to deliver high quality results - Eager to learn and develop within a forward-thinking and progressive team.
