Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant with SEMH Focus
A fantastic chance has emerged for a talented and caring Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant, specialising in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH), to become part of a fantastic Primary School in Rochdale, OL16. This is a long-term position, commencing in September and set to last 2 terms. The school is in search of a dedicated support staff member to provide one-on-one assistance to a Year 3 class student, who requires academic and social support.
The ideal candidate should possess prior experience in working with SEN students and a robust understanding of effective de-escalation techniques. The specific child in question follows an individualised education plan tailored to their SEMH needs, so the school places high value on prior experience in delivering regular updates and progress reports.
This role operates from 8:20 AM to 3:30 PM and offers the added benefit of being a part of a highly respected school community. The school has received a positive Ofsted rating and has consistently been oversubscribed for several years. As the successful candidate, you will receive dedicated support from the SENCO, who will provide additional training and professional development to ensure you can offer optimal support to the child. Responsibilities
* Provide one-on-one support to a Year 3 student with SEMH needs in line with the individualised education plan.
* Apply de-escalation techniques to support the student’s emotional regulation and behaviour.
* Give regular updates and progress reports to the SENCO and school.
* Assist with classroom activities and support the student’s academic and social development.
Qualifications
* Prior experience working with SEN students.
* Robust understanding of effective de-escalation techniques.
* Ability to provide regular updates and progress reports on student development.
