Job Description:

We're energisers, a team of 21,000 colleagues energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, while living our commitment to positive change in communities. Here, you find more purpose, passion, and potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.
About your team:
At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.
We’ve powered UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero by using tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers, helping customers reduce their carbon footprint.

Our Flexible First working arrangements allow remote work with occasional office visits. We’re open to discussing flexible hours to suit individual needs.
About your role:
The Electricity Settlements Manager ensures British Gas meets its settlement obligations within the domestic electricity market, overseeing processes for compliance with the Balancing and Settlement Code, and verifying energy volumes attributed to customer consumption. You will lead onshore analysts and offshore teams to align data, resolve exceptions, and maintain operational excellence. This role offers opportunities to develop technical skills, recover significant sums for the business, and travel overseas to visit offshore teams.
Your key daily duties:
* Ensure settlement performance targets are met across the domestic portfolio.
* Manage relationships with Elexon, ensuring adherence to performance plans and milestones.
* Ensure compliance with the BSC, demonstrating this during audits.
* Lead and develop a team of Data Analysts to monitor and improve settlement performance and reduce imbalance exposure.
* Oversee the Elective Half-Hourly portfolio, ensuring accurate billing.
* Ensure EAC values are accurate and representative of customer usage.
* Manage meter read rejections, failed reads, and industry exceptions.
* Collaborate internally to understand and mitigate impacts on settlement and imbalance.
* Direct outsource partners to deliver operational requirements.
* Manage third-party partners to maximize settlement and imbalance benefits.
* Support understanding of MHHS programme impacts and ensure successful industry change implementation.

Leadership with knowledge of electricity settlements, preferably in the residential market, and strong industry expertise. Experience managing analyst teams and stakeholder management skills are essential. Technical knowledge is advantageous but can be developed. Ability to work independently and take initiative is key.
