About the Role
* Employment Type: Full Time – 35 hours per week
* Duration: Continuing
* Remuneration: Level B from $127,947; Level C from $155,403, 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
* Location: Kensington Campus, Sydney, New South Wales
Why this role matters
We are seeking a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in the School of Private and Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law & Justice, UNSW.
Research expertise and capacity to teach in one or more of the following areas of private law:
* Equity and trusts
* Land and property law
* Contracts
* Torts
Successful appointees will develop and maintain a strong research program, participate actively in research culture, and convene and teach courses in LLB, JD, and LLM programs.
The role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports aside from casual Teaching Fellows.
Skills and Experience
Level B
* A PhD in Law or related discipline (or equivalent).
* Capacity for high‑quality research publications and clear research plans.
* Demonstrated capacity to teach effectively at tertiary level, including innovative teaching methods.
* Ability to teach core LLB/JD courses in private law, as well as specialist electives or master’s courses.
* Evidence of highly developed interpersonal, organisational and communication skills, capacity to work collaboratively and contribute to service and engagement activities.
* Evidence of the capacity to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Level C
* A PhD in Law or related discipline (or equivalent).
* A demonstrated track record of research, with evidence of publications of high quality and impact, and the capacity for research leadership.
* Experience in successfully recruiting and/or supervising high calibre HDR students, and in chairing and/or participating in HDR confirmation and review panels.
* Demonstrated capacity to teach effectively at tertiary level, including experience in developing and implementing innovative teaching methods.
* Demonstrated experience in successfully teaching core LLB/JD courses in private law, as well as specialist electives or master’s courses.
* Demonstrated experience in educational design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including experience involving educational technologies and using online delivery methods.
* Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
* Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, relationship building and organisational skills and the capacity to work collaboratively and contribute to the School’s service and engagement activities.
* Evidence of the capacity to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
