Technical Sales Engineer
£28,000 – £33,000 DOE
Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
Our client, a well‑established steel processing and profiling business based in Sheffield, is looking to recruit a Technical Sales Engineer to join their growing commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual with a technical or engineering background who enjoys building customer relationships, developing business, and managing projects from enquiry through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing customer enquiries via phone and email
- Preparing quotations and processing orders
- Building strong relationships with existing and prospective customers
- Supporting customers with technical queries and project requirements
- Liaising with internal departments including CAD, Production and Accounts
- Following projects from initial enquiry to final delivery
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities
- Maintaining high levels of customer service and account management
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- Proactive, positive, self‑motivated attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous sales experience would be beneficial but is not essential
- Previous experience within steel profiling, laser cutting, plasma cutting, flame cutting, waterjet cutting, or metal processing would be advantageous
- CAD knowledge would be beneficial
- Willingness to learn and develop within a technical sales environment
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic are valued more highly than industry experience
