Overview
This is a rare opportunity to join a live engineering programme that supports the delivery of instrumentation and control systems for one of the UK’s largest energy infrastructure projects.
Over 12 months, you’ll work closely with experts, suppliers, and project leads to develop the practical experience and professional capabilities that will power your future in engineering.
Based in Bristol, you’ll be embedded in the Instrumentation & Control team delivering systems for Hinkley Point C, the UK’s first nuclear power station in a generation.
Key Criteria
* On track to achieve (or have already completed) a bachelor’s or postgraduate degree (2:2 or higher) in:
* Instrumentation & Control Engineering
* Electrical Engineering
* Electronics
* Software
* Physics
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, technical environment
* Must have legal right to work in the UK at the time of starting the placement
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll support the Instrumentation & Control Programme team with hands-on tasks across engineering operations and project delivery. Activities include:
* Assisting with project planning and scheduling
* Helping to coordinate meetings and documentation for multiple stakeholders
* Supporting risk management and quality control processes
* Working with suppliers and internal teams on design reviews and tool development
* Taking part in inspections, audits, and document analysis
Past placement students have developed process tools, conducted design data reviews, led meetings, and directly supported delivery outcomes.
Where You’ll Be Based
You’ll be based at the Aztec West office in Bristol, working with colleagues focused on engineering delivery for Hinkley Point C — the largest construction project in Europe.
