Senior Fleet Controller

At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. Serco proudly supports the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fueling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refueling to the RAF fleet.
Serco currently has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Team Leader to join the team. The key purpose of this role is to line manage the Serco MT personnel under their responsibility and tasking allocated to a shift cycle.
Main Accountabilities:
1. Assist the MT Ops Manager with the control and day-to-day delivery of MT Operations.
2. Ensure transport requests are satisfied in accordance with JSP 800 Vol 5.
3. Supervise allocated MT staff in their daily duties within delegated authority.
4. Monitor staff attendance and performance as required by the MT Ops and Transport Manager.
5. Ensure drivers have all necessary documentation and equipment to undertake their tasks.
6. Report and process vehicle and equipment faults and breakdowns as per JSP 800 Vol 5.
7. Allocate correctly trained and qualified personnel, in appropriate vehicles, to satisfy transport requests.
8. Ensure compliance with the legislative obligations of Operator’s Licences.
9. Ensure all policies and directives relating to Road Transport and Dangerous Goods are followed.
10. Make drivers aware of their legal obligations, insurance liabilities, ADR obligations, and safety responsibilities.
11. Ensure all employees are trained and competent to perform their duties.
12. Line management responsibilities for Swing shift personnel.
What you need to do the role:
1. Full Driving Licence Cat D & C (C+E desirable).
2. DCPC Licence for respective licences held.
3. Colour perception standard for Airfield Driving Permit.
4. Understanding of Joint Service MT and Dangerous Goods Regulations.
5. Knowledge of load and load restraint.
6. Proven supervisory management ability.
7. ADR awareness in all classes of Dangerous Goods (except class 7).
8. Experience in civilian and military transport management.
