Our client, a well:established manufacturer operating within the Defence and safety:critical engineering sectors, is seeking a Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) to join their Worcestershire:based operation. This is a senior:level position offering the opportunity to influence quality, compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across complex fabrication programmes.
Working at the heart of the business, you will act as the technical authority for all welding:related activities, ensuring compliance with internationally recognised standards while supporting the delivery of high:integrity products used across Defence, Rail, Automotive, and other critical industries.

The Role
As the Responsible Welding Coordinator, you will provide technical leadership and oversight for all welding coordination activities in accordance with ISO 14731.
You will be responsible for ensuring welding operations, personnel, procedures, and inspection activities consistently meet the highest standards of compliance, quality, and safety.
This role carries significant responsibility and influence, with direct involvement in technical reviews, audit preparation, production controls, process improvement initiatives, and strategic decision:making across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the organisations welding authority and technical lead
* Ensure compliance with all relevant management systems and welding standards
* Develop, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR)
* Support technical reviews and production planning activities from a welding perspective
* Maintain control and accessibility of welding documentation and records
* Manage welding competency matrices and personnel qualification requirements
* Audit subcontractor welding capabilities and compliance where required
* Coordinate pre:weld, in:process, and post:weld inspection and testing activities
* Conduct safety, environmental, quality, and compliance audits
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, Kaizen, and 5S activities
* Monitor performance through KPI management and root cause analysis
* Support and supervise welding personnel undertaking complex fabrication activities
* Collaborate closely with quality, compliance, engineering, and production teams to ensure operational excellence

Qualifications
Essential
* CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector qualification
* HNC (or higher) in Fabrication and Welding, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
* Comprehensive technical knowledge aligned to ISO 14731 requirements
* Relevant advanced welding coordination qualifications such as:
* European Welding Engineer (EWE)
* Specialist Welding Inspector (SFI)
* Equivalent recognised welding coordination qualification
