Overview
This role is designed for an individual with a strong engineering foundation - such as a background in sales engineering, commissioning, project engineering, or project management - who is ready to transition into the commercial side of the business. It offers the opportunity to apply technical knowledge to drive business growth, influence large-scale projects, and play a pivotal role in developing new client relationships across industrial, infrastructure, renewable energy, and EV charging sectors.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across the UK, particularly in high-value schemes exceeding £1m.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders.
* Manage and nurture existing client accounts to ensure repeat business and long-term partnerships.
* Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and networking forums.
* Deliver compelling client pitches and presentations that combine technical insight with commercial value.
* Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and CRM records.
* Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market positioning to shape sales strategy.
* Work closely with internal engineering and delivery teams to align client requirements with technical capabilities.
Skills & Qualifications
* Degree in Civil, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
* Proven ability to translate technical knowledge into commercial advantage.
* Strong sales and business development skills, ideally gained within engineering or construction-related industries.
* Understanding of contractual frameworks, particularly building and infrastructure contracts.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills at all business levels.
* Highly organised, able to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines under pressure.
* Strong presentation and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
* Experience in relevant industry experience, ideally combining technical and client-facing roles.
