Location: This role can be based at any of our offices in Manchester, Reading, London, or Cardiff, though regular travel to the Reading office will be required.

The Aldermore Tax team is recognised for providing first rate tax support to the Aldermore Group and in spite of being a small team, punching above its weight in adding value to Group activities. The Group is part of the FirstRand Group and includes Aldermore Group PLC and its subsidiaries, including Aldermore Bank PLC and MotoNovo Finance Ltd.
The role of Tax Manager supports the Head of Tax in providing a pro-active stewardship and business partnering role and in meeting, in a timely and efficient manner, the tax compliance and reporting responsibilities of the Group. The Tax Manager will help optimise the Group tax position and establish robust tax risk management procedures.
Key compliance responsibilities of the Tax Manager include VAT, employment taxes, quarterly income tax reporting, interest returns (e.g. BBSI), other ad hoc advice and support on operational taxes as well as certain aspects of corporation tax provisioning. The role will also input to the review of tax related processes and controls which support the Senior Accounting Officer objectives as well.
As the role has a broad base across the taxes, it provides an ideal springboard for anyone interested in developing tax experience in financial services.
What will your day look like?
* Manage VAT compliance end-to-end, including returns, payments, recoveries, reconciliations and partial exemption calculations
* Provide VAT advice and training to the business, ensuring correct treatment of transactions and monitoring/reporting errors
* Oversee employee tax matters, including PAYE Settlement Agreements, P11Ds, NIC, and advising on reward and share schemes
* Manage operational tax reporting, including savings income returns and CT61 filings, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to HMRC
* Support corporation tax processes, governance, and compliance, including SAO controls and implementation of new legislation
* Provide broader tax support across the business, including transfer pricing, M&A, project work, and coordination with advisers and Group stakeholders
