We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed Health Care Support Worker to join our dynamic Day Surgery and Short Stay Unit team. As a Band 3 HCSW, you will provide high-quality, individualised, and holistic care to patients, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care in line with Trust policies. This role will give you vital experience in patient care, preparation, recovery, and support across a range of surgical specialties.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Healthcare Support Worker will be an integral part of the ward/department team actively taking part in meeting the needs of patients and of the service in accordance with agreed standards under direct supervision of the registered nurses, nurse associates and midwives. The post holder will develop essential competencies though training and practice to ensure safety and quality are the priority.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Completion of Care Certificate or equivalent.
2. Basic literacy and numeracy skills (English and Math’s GCSEs or equivalent.)
3. Evidence of ongoing personal development.
Desirable criteria
4. Level 2 support worker Apprenticeship
Experience
Essential criteria
5. Demonstrable experience of working in a clinical healthcare setting.
6. Experience of dealing with the public.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
7. Awareness of health and safety at work. e.g: manual handling skills, infection control measures.
8. Ability to collect and exchange factual information and data to the multidisciplinary team and ensure data accuracy.
