Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.
We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.
Bringing together two big organisations is not a small task and it’ll take a while to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. That’s why you will notice the jobs here are still branded ‘Humankind’. Next year we’ll be fully integrating our recruitment systems but for now they are separate.
Recovery Navigator
Full time, permanent - 37 hours per week - working on a rota basis. Located at Portland House, Sheffield, S3 8UG.

Likewise, is commissioned by Sheffield City Council and strives to create a safe, supportive environment where individuals can develop essential life skills, regain confidence, and achieve lasting recovery. We believe in helping our service users reintegrate into society as active, contributing citizens.
About the Role
Key duties include managing a caseload, devising, implementing, and reviewing ongoing recovery and treatment plans, facilitating and promoting individuals' progression from initial engagement, through structured treatment, to self-sustained recovery, and reducing substance-related harm to individuals and the wider community.
Working collaboratively with key partners and colleagues to achieve the best health and well-being outcomes for individuals. Please note that we do events that will at times require evening and weekend work. Also, we have Thursday late nights. The role will require work in the communities: drop-ins, events and home visits. Therefore, driving as well as access to your own car is preferred (expenses returned).
About you
We welcome individuals with a strong background in the substance misuse sector, mental health support, criminal justice field, or a relevant academic background. Specifically, we are seeking individuals with one or more of the following professional experiences:
* Substance misuse background
* Mental health background
* Criminal justice background
* A relevant academic background such as Criminology, Psychology, Law or Sociology
* A strong portfolio of volunteering in a similar role
* Case management experience and the ability to manage expectations in this emotionally demanding role
