Job Description
Join an exciting and impactful project that’s transforming local infrastructure and green spaces. As Environmental Manager, you’ll lead all environmental activities on-site, reporting to the Senior Environmental Manager. From naturalising Pymmes Brook and creating vibrant parks to building bridges and enhancing road and cycle links, your work will help shape a more sustainable, connected future for the community.
What You’ll Do:
* Lead with Purpose – Take ownership of environmental compliance on-site, ensuring we meet ISO 14001 standards and go beyond the basics to embed sustainability into everything they do.
* Turn Data into Action – Monitor environmental factors like water, dust, noise, and waste, and translate your findings into practical improvements that make a real difference.
* Spotlight What Matters – Carry out regular site inspections, celebrating great practice and swiftly addressing any issues – your insights will help keep the project on track and environmentally sound.
* Own the Plan – Develop, maintain, and evolve the Environmental Management Plan, ensuring it’s not just a document, but a living, breathing part of the project’s success.
* Collaborate to Succeed – Work hand-in-hand with engineers, site teams, and stakeholders to embed environmental thinking into every decision and build strong, lasting relationships.
Who We’re Looking For:
* Experienced & Ready – You’ve worked in civil engineering, consultancy, or a specialist environmental role and are confident managing environmental responsibilities on complex infrastructure projects.
* Big Picture Thinker – You understand how environmental design impacts people, places, and projects – and you know how to balance ambition with practicality.
* Professionally Qualified – You’re an IEMA Practitioner or above (Chartered is a big plus), and you bring both technical know-how and a passion for sustainability.
* Solutions-Focused – You’re proactive, calm under pressure, and always looking for smart, effective ways to solve problems and reduce environmental risk.
* Clear Communicator – You’re great at building trust, influencing others, and making environmental priorities clear and compelling to a wide range of people.
