Summary:
The Plymouth City Council School Transport Team is seeking an enthusiastic, resilient, and proactive Passenger Assistant Supervisor. This role is vital in ensuring that students across Plymouth—particularly those with additional needs—have a safe, reliable, and supportive journey to school.You will lead a team of Passenger Assistants, providing on-the-ground support, technical training, and performance management. This position requires a unique blend of "people person" and "problem solver," balancing field visits on transport vehicles with administrative duties and classroom-based training.
Responsibilities:
* Travel on school transport vehicles to support Passenger Assistants, ensuring safety protocols are followed and students are supported effectively.
* Complete site-specific risk assessments, conduct H&S investigations, and ensure all transport activities comply with council regulations.
* Lead and facilitate training sessions for Passenger Assistants in a classroom environment, ensuring they are equipped for their roles.
* Act as a key point of contact for schools, parents, operators, and staff. Handle challenging telephone queries with empathy and professionalism.
Essentials:
1.
* Proven track record of managing staff, including performance management, feedback delivery, and handling absence policies.
* A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across the Plymouth area.
* Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience using professional databases.
* Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN or disabilities.
