Job Description

You will be responsible for supporting the technical operation of a fleet of small, working vessels, ensuring they remain compliant, well-maintained, and operating efficiently.

This role combines both technical oversight and day-to-day involvement, working closely with vessel crews and shoreside support to resolve issues, maintain standards, and drive performance across the fleet.

Key responsibilities include:

* Overseeing vessel maintenance programmes and monitoring ongoing condition
* Providing technical support to crews, including fault finding and problem resolution
* Ensuring all vessels meet Class, Flag State, and relevant regulatory requirements
* Planning and supporting shipyard periods, including preparation, execution, and follow-up
* Managing maintenance systems, defects, and worklists across the fleet
* Reviewing performance data and identifying areas requiring attention
* Supporting purchasing decisions for parts, equipment, and repairs
* Carrying out vessel visits, inspections, and technical reviews
* Working alongside senior crew to maintain operational standards and reliability
* Supporting and coordinating with shoreside technical personnel and contractors




Requirements

1. Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency or relevant engineering qualification
2. Background within small vessel / workboat / coastal operations
3. Practical, hands-on approach with strong technical understanding
4. Ability to balance operational demands with compliance and reporting requirements
5. Experience working with maintenance systems and vessel reporting
6. Strong communication skills when dealing with crews and internal teams
7. Ability to prioritise workload and respond to operational demands
8. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of tasks
9. Willingness to be located within reach of operations or relocate if required

Requirements
Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) or relevant engineering qualification Experience within small vessel, workboat or coastal operations Hands-on technical approach with strong problem-solving ability Ability to support vessel crews and troubleshoot operational issues Experience managing maintenance systems (PMS) and worklists Understanding of Class and Flag State compliance requirements Strong communication skills when working with onboard and shoreside teams Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple operational demands Comfortable working independently and taking ownership
