Network Engineer
Site‑based Network Engineering role at DXC Technology located in Glasgow or Newcastle. The position focuses on implementing remote network services for a DXC secure customer, covering LAN, WAN, firewall and security infrastructures with a key emphasis on Cisco and Aruba devices. Hybrid working is required – minimum two days onsite per week – and a current SC security clearance is mandatory.
Responsibilities
* Maintain data network hardware and systems.
* Investigate and resolve network and hardware issues.
* Analyze, isolate and troubleshoot network errors.
* Assess and upgrade legacy network components as needed.
* Provide technical support for internal and external customers, responding to inquiries and recommending solutions.
* Lead network problem escalation and resolution, mentoring junior Network Engineering staff.
* Install and maintain network infrastructure, including hardware, software and system data for small to medium‑sized networks.
* Deploy network applications on servers and voice equipment.
* Conduct network testing, maintenance and problem resolution.
* Perform network configurations and implement changes on routers, switches, firewalls and security appliances.
* Prepare network diagrams and documentation to reflect the current network operational status.
* Draft proposals to address customer requirements and collaborate with network architects on design and implementation.
* Conduct regular network performance tests.
Mandatory Skills
* Cisco LAN/WAN skills equivalent to CCNP level.
* Aruba LAN skills equivalent to Aruba ACP level.
* Demonstrable experience in large‑scale multi‑vendor campus environments.
* Experience with Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls.
* Strong technical documentation skills.
* Experience with OSPF, BGP, and iBGP routing protocols.
* Experience configuring and managing IPSec tunnels on firewalls and routers.
* Experience with large‑scale structured cabling infrastructures in production/manufacturing environments.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
* Experience with Cisco and Aruba network infrastructures.
* Proven ability to troubleshoot LAN/WAN/firewall systems.
* Knowledge of modern networking principles and data/video communication.
* Eligible for or currently possess SC clearance (mandatory).
