Band 6 Service Manager – Colorectal/General Surgery and Cardiology

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Good Hope Hospital for a motivated and experienced Service Manager to join our Colorectal, General Surgery and Cardiology operational management team.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and General Manager, the post holder will play a key role in providing operational and managerial leadership to ensure delivery of the Trust's performance, quality and financial objectives.

You will have strong communication skills and the ability to build credible, collaborative relationships with colleagues at all levels, including clinicians and senior managers.
You will be comfortable working with data, using insight to identify risks, drive improvement, and support delivery of performance and quality objectives. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety, equity, dignity, and compassion.

Please note that this is a full-time role equating to 37.5 hours per week. Whilst the role will be based at the Good Hope Hospital site, travel to other hospital sites may be required.
Main duties of the job
* Lead and manage Referral to Treatment (RTT), Cancer and Diagnostic pathways, ensuring robust patient tracking and performance in line with local and National key performance standards.
* Analyse, interpret, and present performance and operational data to senior managers and clinical leads to support informed decision making.
* Support patient flow, bed capacity, and discharge processes, working closely with clinical and operational teams.
* Line manage administrative and support staff, including recruitment, appraisal, performance management, sickness absence, training and development, and rota management.
* Deputise for the Operations Manager as required.

Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience gained through relevant professional roles.
* Postgraduate management qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and expertise, acquired through a combination of operational management experience, continuous professional development, and relevant training courses.
Experience
* Experience of working within an NHS or healthcare environment, working closely with clinicians and other healthcare professionals.
* Experience of day-to-day management of staff, including sickness absence management and performance supervision.
* Evidence of supporting the development, training, or mentoring of others.
* Experience of delivering a high-quality customer or patient-focused service.
* Experience of handling patient or customer complaints and resolving issues appropriately.
* Experience of working in an administrative or operational management role with a proven ability to problem solve and prioritize competing demands.
* Experience of working independently in a busy and pressured environment, exercising judgement and decision making skills.
* Experience of managing confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
* Experience of working to targets and service priorities, meeting deadlines and responding flexibly to service demands.
* Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly to different audiences.
* Understanding of clinical governance, risk management, and health and safety principles within a healthcare setting.
* Experience of supporting the management or monitoring of a departmental budget.
