Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: North London

Position: Full-time

Hours: 8.30 am - 3.30 pm

Pay: £15-£16 per hour

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive college located in North London. We are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting students with a range of SEND and who can contribute to a positive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work under the guidance of the classroom teacher to support SEND students in achieving their individual educational and developmental goals.
2. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans and provide tailored support to students with a variety of learning needs, such as ASC, ADHD, dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.
3. Encourage and assist students during classroom activities, ensuring they remain engaged and motivated.
4. Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as necessary.
5. Promote positive behaviour and social skills, implementing strategies to support students in managing their own behaviour.
6. Prepare and organise resources and materials to assist in delivering effective learning activities.
7. Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all students.

Qualifications and Skills:
1. Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or within a special education setting is preferred.
2. A patient, empathetic, and resilient individual who is comfortable working with children/young adults who have a range of learning difficulties and behavioural challenges.
3. Good understanding of the curriculum and various educational strategies to support children/young adults with SEND.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals.
5. Sound organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
6. Enhanced DBS check on update service or willingness to undertake one.
