Hours & Salary
* 22.5 sessions per week (up to 22.5 hours)
* May include weekend work with additional pay
* Salary £33,262 - £36,027 per annum (Pro Rata)
Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and competent Dental Nurse to join our Special Care Dental Service, based across 5 sites in Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality dental care for our special needs patients, manage general anaesthetic sessions, domiciliary visits and conscious sedation as required.
Responsibilities
* Provide dental care and support to special needs patients and children
* Participate in general anaesthetic sessions at PRUH in Orpington
* Carry out domiciliary visits to patients’ homes, care and residential homes, and hospitals
* Provide treatment under conscious sedation (previous experience desirable)
* Assist with preparation and aftercare of patients, infection control and record keeping
* Support teamwork within the dental and wider healthcare teams
* Maintain accurate clinical records and imaging including radiography
Qualifications & Registration
* Professional registration with the General Dental Council (GDC)
* Appropriate Dental Nursing qualification (Hospital, National Certificate or N.V.Q. Level 3)
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Indemnity cover
* Radiography competence and use of dental software systems
* OHE (Ozone Hardening?) – requirement listed
* UK driving licence and access to a car for travel between sites
Experience and Skills
* Experience working in Dental Nursing with a range of patients, including adults, children and special needs
* Experience in general dental practice, community dentistry or emergency dental settings
* Familiarity with infection control procedures and dental software systems
* Strong communication, empathy, organisational and team‑working skills
* Knowledge of GDC and NHS Dental Service regulations and working with Dental Therapists
* Membership of relevant professional associations (e.g. BADN)
* Experience working with socially excluded and multi‑ethnic populations
Other Requirements
* Valid dental software system usage and IT skills
* Good knowledge of radiography and use of OHE
* Willingness to travel between sites and provide coverage as needed
