About the Role
The Service Engineer is an integral member of the Field Service Team, providing in‑field support to our Naval customers. Our local site designs, assembles, and services a variety of industrial large‑scale winches and cranes that are hydraulically and electrically driven for naval applications.

Key Responsibilities
As an FSR, you will be proactive and self‑motivated, providing in‑service support and technical oversight to our Naval customers. Your duties include:
* Supporting equipment installation, acceptance testing, maintenance, repairs, and diagnosis to minimize downtime and ensure customer satisfaction.
* Administering specific maintenance programs and maintaining relevant service records.
* Providing guidance on best practices and methods at our local facility and other Rolls‑Royce facilities.
* Working with onsite engineering to support test procedures, product development, and production queries involving complex problems.
* Performing routine maintenance, repair, and commissioning work on equipment in accordance with technical documentation.
* Creating reports documenting the work performed.
* Traveling up to 50% of the time (both domestic and international), sometimes at short notice and for extended periods away from home.
* Establishing and maintaining close liaison with customer organization sections and Rolls‑Royce management.
* Reviewing engineering changes and their impact on field products, updating maintenance manuals, and coordinating communication plans with customers.
* Defining and reviewing processes of the local engineering group to ensure best‑practice alignment.
* Reviewing cases from the manufacturing engineering department that require specialized consideration.
* Collaborating on technical issues with customers and vendors as required.
* Developing, reviewing, and editing technical documents to support site needs.
* Supporting site programs through integration, design verification, and factory acceptance testing.
Basic Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, comparable STEM Degree, or equivalent experience.
* Proven technical report‑writing experience in a structured engineering environment.
* Logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems, with ability to make balanced decisions in complex situations and with incomplete information.
* Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
* Documented experience operating and servicing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment with a high level of mechanical aptitude.
* Canadian citizenship or Permanent Residency.
* Canadian Controlled Goods and Reliability Security Clearance (required).
Preferred Requirements
* Strong communication skills with the engineering team, maintaining awareness of current efforts and guiding others on technical matters.
* Proven ability to operate independently within cross‑functional teams.
* Demonstrated planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in computer and technical tools: Ansys, SolidWorks, EPDM, SAP, and MS Office.
Additional Information
This role will transition to Fairbanks Morse Defense after the closing of the transaction expected in 2025.
