Sports Coach - Award Winning Nursery Group
Full time - 40 hours per week - Covering our Wakefield, Alverthorpe and Huddersfield nurseries
Pay: £25,396.80
We are looking for an energetic and caring Sports Coach to join our nursery team. The successful candidate will plan and deliver fun, inclusive, and age-appropriate physical activities for children, supporting their physical development, coordination, and confidence in a safe and nurturing environment. This role suits someone who loves working with young children, has a creative approach to play and movement, and values teamwork and child wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, prepare, and deliver a varied programme of physical activities, games, and movement sessions suitable for children in the nursery.
* Create safe, stimulating environments for active play both indoors and outdoors.
* Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, and confidence through inclusive coaching techniques.
* Observe and assess children’s physical development, sharing observations with room leaders and parents where appropriate.
* Collaborate with nursery staff to integrate physical activity into the daily routine and support overall learning goals.
* Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained; report any hazards or maintenance needs promptly.
* Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and hygiene policies at all times.
Key Qualities We’re Looking For:
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
* Creativity and enthusiasm for designing engaging, playful sports activities for young children.
* Ability to adapt activities to suit differing abilities and needs.
* Patient, calm, and nurturing approach with good emotional intelligence.
* Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the nursery.
Essential / Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
* Essential: Experience working with children in an early years or sports setting; relevant first aid (paediatric) or willingness to obtain.
* Desirable: Coaching qualification (e.g., Level 1/2 in a sports coaching discipline), Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification, or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures or willingness to attend required training.
