An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Nurse to join our well established, award-winning community enteral nutrition nurses team on a years fixed term.

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic nurse to join our department.


Main duties of the job

The role will work with adult patients alongside dietitians, community-based district nursing staff and our experienced Nutrition Nursing team to advise and support on all aspects of enteral feeding in adults. The team liaises closely with acute units, enteral feeding companies, community hospitals and nursing homes in relation to home enteral feeding discharges, assessment for initiation of enteral feeding, direct patient care and staff training. The successful post holder should therefore have experience in enteral feeding. Working alongside the Specialist Nutrition Nurses for Adults, you will gain expert knowledge and support patients in their own homes to prevent admission to hospital.

Person specification


Qualifications and Training

* Registered Nurse
* Degree in Nursing
* Evidence of recent Post Basic Clinical Training
* Nursing experience with Children or those with Learning Disability
* ENB 998 / City and Guilds 730 or similar teaching qualification
* Community Nurse Prescribing


Experience

* Substantial post registration experience in clinical nursing
* Evidence of multidisciplinary working


Skills / Knowledge

* Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of up to date evidence based clinical trends and practices
* Knowledge of nursing issues in relation to nutritional support and enteral feeding
* Knowledge of current national guidance relating to nutrition support
* Ability to use IT
* Knowledge of application of NMC Code of Conduct and scope of professional practice
* Understanding of the needs of ethnic minority clients/carers
* Ability to generate written communication which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible
* Ability to demonstrate individual and team responsibility in respect to Health and Safety
* Understanding of Project Management and evaluation

* Ability to learn and apply knowledge appropriately
* Ability to organise oneself and others

Other job requirements

* Ability to travel throughout the city, transporting equipment necessary to do the job.

In accordance with UK Home Office requirements, Band 2 clinical and non-clinical roles and Band 3 Non-Clinical roles are not eligible for sponsorship.

Please note that the majority of non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Band 3 - 6) with the exception of those which appear on this list - link, will not meet the minimum requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration to sponsor candidates to work in the UK.

All non-clinical roles (Agenda for Change Bands 7 - 9) that meet the prescribed skill level (RQF 6) and salary threshold will be eligible for sponsorship.
