We are looking to recruit a Senior Property Lawyer to join our team in St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. This role is suitable for a person with experience in conveyancing and managing their own caseload.
Key responsibilities of a Senior Property Lawyer
1. Manage an average caseload of 50 files, covering all aspects of conveyancing transactions from instruction to completion, registration, and closure.
2. Take instructions, maintain accurate file notes, communicate with clients and third parties, and complete tasks. Draft legal documents such as Standard Precedent Letters, Contract Packs, Title Reports, Exchange and Completion letters, general correspondence, and Land Registry and HMRC forms.
3. Perform Pre-completion, Land Registry, and Conveyancing searches accurately and promptly, ensuring all paperwork and funds are in place for exchange and completion.
4. Handle Post Completion tasks including applications to the Land Registry, Stamp Duty Land Tax submissions, file closures, and account ledger checks.
5. Manage complex transactions such as leaseholds, shared ownership, unregistered properties, acting for companies, lease variations and extensions, and new builds. Identify opportunities for personal development and performance improvement.
6. Assist with coaching and mentoring of Associates and Property Lawyers.

Skills and experience required
1. Qualified candidates with a Law Degree, LPC, Licensed Conveyancer, Solicitor, or Legal Executive (FCILEX) are preferred but not mandatory.
2. Extensive experience managing a varied conveyancing caseload and handling complex legal transactions.
3. Excellent communication, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail is essential.
4. Self-motivated, capable of working independently or as part of a team.
5. Knowledge of Case Management Systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred but not essential.
