The Tesco Media and Insight Platform, a partnership between Tesco and dunnhumby, uses data from over 23 million Clubcard holders to help brands understand consumer behavior and optimize advertising spend effectively, ensuring targeted messaging across the marketing funnel.
We are seeking a talented Strategic Planner who will collaborate with major CPG clients to understand their business needs and identify how our platform can support their goals. The role involves creating strategic visions, working with internal teams, and delivering impactful media planning strategies that are insight-led and full-funnel, with Tesco Media Insight and Clubcard audiences at the core.
What You’ll Be Working On
* Advising senior clients at the intersection of brand, performance, shopper, and trade media to achieve objectives, expanding retail media’s role beyond traditional boundaries.
* Supporting the development of Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and conducting client maturity audits.
* Leading strategic responses using our 5-stage planning process, identifying insights, media and audience strategies, and measurement approaches.
* Assisting in post-campaign analysis and quarterly business reviews, narrating campaign stories from strategic recommendations to performance outcomes.
* Creating and delivering media planning training for sales and account teams, upskilling clients in retail media planning.
* Sharing expertise in channel selection and budget allocation methodologies with the wider team.
* Identifying opportunities for dunnhumby’s other teams (research, insights, data science) to add value.
* Contributing to the evolution of planning practices at Tesco Media.
* Leading project work such as thought leadership and strategic pitches to elevate Tesco Media’s industry profile.
What We Expect From You
* Experience in media planning or strategy within an agency, media owner, or client-side role.
* Passion for Retail Media and eCommerce, with a focus on evidence-based work.
* Strong storytelling skills to craft compelling client narratives.
* A desire to learn, applying marketing principles practically and embracing new planning models.
* Comfort with ambiguity, blending art and science in storytelling.
* Ability to lead stakeholders and projects confidently.
* Self-awareness and confidence to present to senior audiences.
* Commercial acumen to develop strategic partnerships that drive revenue.
* Understanding of customer journeys across media channels, especially digital and retail-focused media.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
