An opportunity for an experienced Interim Operations Manager to assist a small but growing Food Manufacturing business with the implementation of robust systems, procedures and staff structures.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager will be given full Operational responsibility for managing day-to-day factory activities, demonstrating leadership and assisting the business in achieving its vision, strategy and financial targets. The individual appointed will assume responsibility for Production, Planning, Engineering, Warehouse, Logistics.
Responsibilities
* Work with the senior team on getting basic KPIs and planning back on track;
* Work with the senior team on implementing a consistent team management/leadership structure;
* Introduce Performance Management measures so that the Production/Operations team has consistency and remains motivated;
* Identify areas where efficiency improvement activities could lead to some 'easy wins';
* Communicate the Manufacturing / Operations strategy, ensuring this is clearly understood and ‘owned’ by the Manufacturing and Operations team;
* Work at a strategic level to deliver excellence within the Factory, meeting challenging KPI’s: Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity, Waste, Yield, On-Time-In-Full (OTIF), Non-Compliance/complaints;
* Ensure all personnel are working to the highest of standards adhering to Quality, Food Safety, Hygiene and GMP standards;
* Take the lead role in the training and development of staff where skill gaps are identified;
* Implement job enrichment to improve motivation and engagement of personnel;
* The Interim Operations Manager will review, develop, and improve the production area using Continuous Improvement and Lean methodologies;
* Promote a no blame culture where individuals at all levels are confident to challenge the status quo and suggest areas for improvement;
* Review Operational working practices with a view to improving efficiencies, adding value and reducing costs;
* Plan, Organise, Manage and Motivate the Production team to ensure high levels of productivity, ensuring staff are working effectively and efficiently.
The Person
* Experienced within Food Manufacturing Operations, within both smaller artisan and larger manufacturing operations;
* Able to apply 'big company best practice' into a smaller food manufacturing business;
* Experience of organising / re-organising Prodution and Operations areas;
* Previous experience: Operations Manager / Manufacturing Management / Factory Manager experience within a Food Manufacturing environment;
* Strong motivational leadership skills, great CI skills and a talent for developing people and processes. Ref 3559
