About the Role:
One of my local government clients is seeking a detail-oriented and organised Legal Clerk to join its Commercial Law Team. This role involves supporting legal processes related to Highways, Public Rights of Way, and Commons, and providing general administrative support to the wider legal team.
Key Responsibilities:

Draft legal documents related to highways orders, notices, and commons searches.
*
Check and summarise legal content for external distribution.
*
Manage correspondence and telephone queries, especially regarding objections.
*
Liaise with internal departments and external bodies including the Planning Inspectorate.
*
Coordinate public inquiries and court hearings.
*
Update the Council’s website and assist in maintaining the law library.
*
Perform general office duties including filing, letter writing, and managing enquiries.
Requirements:
*
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C or above).
*
Strong administrative experience in an office setting.
*
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and confidence in using digital tools.
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*
Ability to interpret maps and legal documentation.
*
Previous public sector or legal experience is desirable but not essential.
