Overview
An exciting opportunity to join our team of cancer counsellors at ESNEFT. We are looking for a motivated and experienced counsellor to offer therapeutic support to cancer patients and their relatives.
Responsibilities
* Work 34 hours per week across 4 or 5 days, based in the Cancer Wellbeing and Information Centre at Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals.
* Provide counselling as part of a cross-site collaborative service, with at least 2 days per week at Colchester (Monday and Tuesday) and 1 day in Ipswich (Wednesday or Friday). Some time can be worked from home.
* Attend regular outreach clinics in Clacton and provide telephone support from home.
* Be part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team with counsellors, clinical nurse specialists, doctors, information staff and volunteers.
* Facilitate education, clinical supervision and reflective practice for cancer services staff and raise awareness of counselling benefits among health professionals.
* Take responsibility for administrative duties, record keeping, and data collection and analysis related to the role, including leading client bookings and liaising with Wellbeing Centre staff regarding room bookings.
* Demonstrate flexibility, strong organisational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to evaluate and continually improve services; work independently when required and manage multiple tasks including IT and telephone duties.
Qualifications
* Previous experience as a counsellor, ideally in a secondary care setting.
* BACP accredited or working towards accreditation with substantial experience of counselling clients and time-limited work.
* Ability to support cancer patients and loved ones with needs such as trauma, grief and loss, and to manage ethical dilemmas in this area of work.
