We have one LAT (Locum Appointment for Training) post available at STR level to commence in March 2026 for 6 months.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and proactive doctor to join the Rheumatology and General Medicine team at IRH. You will work closely with the Rheumatology team as well as gaining invaluable general medical experience. You will work with the Rheumatology team consisting of 4 Consultants, Specialist Doctors, 3 Clinical Nurse Specialists, a Clinical Pharmacist and Physiotherapy and occupational therapists. You will have the opportunity to develop skills in out‑patient clinics, joint injections, ultrasound for giant cell arteritis in addition to rheumatology ward referrals and MDT working. You will also be part of the general medical team with continuing care of general medical, in addition to contributing to out‑of‑hours medical receiving with experience of medical high dependency. You will be an integral member of the team and will have an excellent environment to develop knowledge, clinical skills and experience in progression in all aspects of general medicine with acute medical receiving and out‑patient experience. You will work with the MDT within the ward and out‑patient environment.
The successful candidate will be allocated an educational and clinical supervisor. A personal development plan (PDP) for the duration of the post will be agreed, and SMART educational goals will be identified. The successful candidates will have excellent opportunities to develop rheumatology and general medical skill and knowledge at ST4 level.
In addition to the Rheumatology team in the medical department at IRH there are 3 Consultants and one Specialist Doctor in Cardiology, 1 Consultant and a Specialist Doctor in Acute Medicine. Two Consultants and a Specialist Doctor in Diabetes/Endocrinology each department have a full multidisciplinary team and a wide range of sub‑specialty interests. The successful doctor will be given full support to develop skills in each specialty in addition to general medicine. There will be opportunities to contribute to teaching of medical students and peers in addition to quality improvement work. There are regular departmental educational meetings.
In addition, the Medical Consultant at IRH are highly enthusiastic and have a passion for striving for the best care for our patients and colleagues.
To practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC full registration and a License to Practice
