This role involves working with both diesel and gasoline engines and providing guidance to our patrons. Key Responsibilities: • Perform and instruct on the repair and maintenance of various vehicles. • Remove, replace, clean, and install parts, components, and accessories. • Determine whether parts should be cleaned, reinstalled, or replaced. • Utilize on-board computer diagnostic systems and other testing equipment. • Make adjustments to vehicle systems based on a basic understanding of electricity and hydraulics. • Read and interpret automotive parts and repair manuals. Qualifications and Key skills • A valid UK CAT B driving license. • Level 2/3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, Automotive, Maintenance and repair or similar together with experience per the key skills 1. Knowledge of techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components and accessories. Ability to determine when parts should be cleaned and reinstalled or replaced. Must have a basic understanding of electricity and hydraulics and the skill to make adjustments and settings (i.e., engine tune-ups, setting engine timing, adjusting brakes). Must also have a basic understanding of on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment. 2. Skill in using basic automotive tools. Must be able to read and interpret parts manuals and manufacturers’ repair manuals. 3. Performs duties independently, selects appropriate tools and parts. Performs repair work in accordance with accepted trade practices and repair manuals. Make adjustments and setting in accordance with specifications in manufacturers’ manual and test the completed product. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential. 2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. 3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. 4. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. 5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 6.
