Overview
The Master Technician is a highly skilled and certified professional responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to the highest standards. This role requires deep technical knowledge, leadership ability, and proficiency with the latest diagnostic tools and repair techniques. The Master Technician may also mentor junior technicians and ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
* Perform complex diagnostics and repairs on all vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, HVAC, suspension, and brakes.
* Utilize OEM diagnostic tools and technical manuals to accurately identify vehicle issues.
* Conduct vehicle inspections and routine maintenance with precision and attention to detail.
* Stay current with the latest automotive technology, software updates, and manufacturer training.
* Mentor and train lower-level technicians; provide guidance and support on difficult repairs.
* Document all work performed clearly and accurately, including parts used and time spent.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with H&S and company policies.
* Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers when necessary to explain technical issues and repair solutions.
* Ensure repairs and maintenance are performed to manufacturer specifications and quality standards, including visual checks, test drives or test equipment as appropriate.
* Dismantle, repair and replace defective parts; reassemble, test, adjust and tune parts, systems or engines as required.
* Carry out routine maintenance checks on oil and air filters, brakes and other vehicle parts/systems.
* Diagnose faults in electrical/electronic circuitry, remove faulty components and fit replacements; check condition of electrical/electronic systems and carry out servicing tasks.
* Install additional electrical amenities such as radios or other accessories where applicable.
* Repair and service air conditioning, heating and engine-cooling systems.
Qualifications
* Automotive service experience (minimum 2 years).
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
* IMI Level 2/3 in EV & Hybrid Systems (desirable).
