We have an excellent opportunity for a Trustee Governance Assistant to become part of our dedicated Trustee Governance team, based in Darlington on a permanent basis and working to a hybrid model.

The Role

As Trustee Governance Assistant, you’ll provide essential administrative and coordination support to the Trustee Governance team, enabling the Trustee Board to operate effectively and deliver on its strategic goals. You’ll help manage meeting logistics, prepare documentation, maintain governance records, and liaise with Trustee Directors and internal stakeholders. This role plays a vital part in supporting the Trustee’s vision to be the preferred and trusted pension provider for the UK rail industry, contributing to good member outcomes, clear planning, and forward-thinking initiatives that influence the shape of UK pensions.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

The Person

Candidates with experience in governance, company secretariat, legal support, or executive assistance particularly within pensions, financial services, or regulated industries will be well suited to this role. Confidence in managing diaries, coordinating meetings, and handling sensitive documentation is essential. Familiarity with governance systems such as Diligent and an understanding of strategic planning and stakeholder engagement will be advantageous.

You’ll have good attention to detail and a proactive approach, with the ability to work independently while building strong relationships across teams. Clear communication, discretion, and a collaborative mindset are key, along with a genuine interest in supporting Trustee-led initiatives that contribute to Railpen’s strategic goals.
