Duties as Head of Business Studies and Economics: Lead the strategic development of the Business Studies and Economics curriculum Teach Business Studies and Economics across relevant key stages Monitor and raise standards of teaching, learning, and assessment within the department Support and develop colleagues through coaching and collaborative planning Analyse pupil performance data to inform interventions and improvement strategies Ensure curriculum coverage aligns with examination specifications and school priorities Promote high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and academic achievement Contribute to whole-school initiatives and leadership responsibilities Maintain accurate records and departmental documentation Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and health and safety responsibilities at all times Ideal Head of Business Studies and Economics: Holds Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification Experience teaching Business Studies and or Economics at secondary level Proven track record of strong classroom practice and pupil outcomes Experience of, or readiness for, a middle leadership role Strong subject knowledge and curriculum understanding Confident leadership, communication, and organisational skills Ability to motivate pupils and inspire colleagues Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people Willingness to commit to a temporary role with the opportunity to become permanent Why Step Teachers?
